ABOUT
​
The 2023 Classical Music Festival aims to provide an opportunity for students to perform repertoires of the Classical period.
​
ELIGIBILITY​
​
-
The Festival is open to all members of the MTAC Pomona Valley branch. Only the primary teacher who meets with a student on a regular basis and provides most of the instruction can enter students. The student needs to have studied with that teacher for at least 6 months prior to this Festival.

Failure to comply with the festival rules and guidelines will result in disqualifying the whole studio from this event.

The student will be entered in the category according to their age as of MARCH 18, 2023. A proof of age is required (ex. copy of birth certificate or passport). All collected documents will be returned after the festival.

For everyone's safety, masks will be required.
-
ALL participating teachers are obligated to serve for the festival.

FESTIVAL FORMAT​
We are delighted to be able to hold the 2023 Classical Music Festival in-person this year! However, in a continued effort to keep all our performers and guests safe and healthy, all performers will be required to wear a mask. ​
​
​
REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENT​
​

Students may perform any repertoire from the Classical period as listed in the 2012 MTAC Certificate of Merit piano syllabus.

Up to two pieces by the same composer and within the same suite or opus may be performed. However, time limits will be strictly observed.
-
When the time limit is reached, students will be stopped without penalty.

No cuts are allowed in any of the selections.
-
SCORE: Music with the first measure of each line numbered must be presented to the judges. Photocopied scores are not acceptable.

DIVISION & TIME LIMITS​

DRESS CODE​
​

Appropriate recital attire and shoes are required.
-
No casual clothes such as jeans, athletic shoes or flip-flops are allowed.
-
No skirts shorter than 2" above the knee are allowed.
-
No bare midriffs are allowed.
​
AWARDS​
​
Due of safety concerns, there will not be an awards ceremony this year. Winners results will be sent to the teachers. Judges comment sheets as well any awards will also be sent to teachers as well.
​
Trophies will be awarded for First, Second, Third, Fourth place as well as Honorable Mention. ​
